OUR STORY
From Abia Soil to African Spirit
In the lush green hills of Ozu Abam, in Arochukwu Local Government Area, Abia State, an old African craftsmanship is reborn. What began as a vision is now a bold reality: a beverage company that is 100% Nigerian in soul, world-class in standard, and uncompromising in values.
Tristar Beverages Limited is not just a manufacturer — we are a tribute.
A tribute to ancestral brewing knowledge, to the resourcefulness of Nigerian farmers, and to the unstoppable spirit of a new generation of innovators.
How It All Began
Our founder, Obiomah Ogbonnaya Igbokwe, grew up surrounded by the raw magic of Eastern Nigeria’s fermentation traditions — from the tapping of fresh palm wine to the brewing of maize beers in village courtyards. Yet, he saw a paradox:
“How can a nation with such rich agricultural gifts and cultural flavor still be dependent on foreign-made beverages?”
In 2023, he founded Tristar Beverages Limited to change this story — not by copying the West, but by reclaiming Africa’s place in global beverage innovation.
Heritage Meets Science
With copper stills forged for amazing distillations, barrels crafted from Nigerian oak, and techniques rooted in both Nigerian traditions and modern brewing chemistry, Tristar was born as a fusion of ancestral knowledge and global technique.
Our signature gin, for instance, is infused with indigenous botanicals like hibiscus, clove, and citrus peel — a reflection of the flavors our people know by heart.
Inspired by Professor Geoff Palmer
Our work is inspired by the legendary Professor Geoff Palmer, the first Black professor of brewing and distilling in Scotland. Like him, we believe that Black science, African agriculture, and global excellence are not separate ideas — they belong in every bottle.
That’s why our Geoff Palmer Dry Gin© carries his name — and our ethos.
Our Process: Craft Without Compromise
- Our fermentation is deep, clean, powered by endogenous enzymes and free of chemical catalysts.
- Every recipe is lab-tested, quality-assured, and NAFDAC/SON certified.
- Every grain we use — sorghum, maize, tropical fruits — comes from Nigerian farms.
- Our distillery is powered by biogas and solar energy, making us one of the greenest breweries in West Africa.
